My Review -

Apophis is the first book in the Kleos Chronicles series written by debut author Raj Anand. The book is based on time and space exploration by five conscious individuals who are nine years old.

In the year 2022, aliens will attack the Earth, but scientists thought it was some asteroid coming towards the Earth instead of an alien spaceship. The government officials are planning to avoid the hit or control the damage, but a few knew it was an alien invasion.

People are divided into three sections - first, those who are given the task of protecting the Earth; second, operating with the aliens known as Skyllats; and the ordinary mortals who have no idea about anything.

Lazarok is one of the first kind; his family has given him the task of protecting humanity. He and his ancestors were at war with the group called Crypteia for centuries. Crypteia is formed to gain power and aid the Skyllats when they come to the Earth. They killed Lazarok's family and did all the aliens' bidding.

In 2012, at five different locations, five kids were born. They are the reincarnation of legendary and mystical sophists of their era. Lazarok meets with their parents and provides a black box that has to be opened by the children when the right time comes. Things took a drastic turn when he tried to reach the fifth kid, and the mysteries of that day twisted after ten years.

The kids are portrayed as exceptionally knowledgeable even before they realize their purpose. When they all meet and reminisce about their former lives, they learn how much they are equated with each other. This group of five teenagers, Ru Zie, Hootie, Siddharth, Plattoya, and K, is named Kleos.

Together, they took a trip to the past to retrieve something that would assist them in defeating the Skyllats and Crypteia. They apprehend why they were reincarnated and what went wrong with their ideas in their preceding periods in their time travel: they all own magnetic energies and the last of hope for everyone.

Raj Anand narrates every scene with precise details. The way he took the reader to the past, present, and future at the same time is commendable. The political drama, policies, and the way the President of the USA (now he is the former one) responds to critical conditions foolishly are relatable. The COVID-19 situation related to the alien theory is engaging.

I savor the fascinating journey of the past in different eras. Being a history nerd, I absolutely loved it. The language is lucid without any grammatical errors. The novel has space exploration, time travel, mythological stories, suspense, and the uncertainties of our future that make this book outstanding.

I recommend this fast-paced book. It is impressive, and I can't wait to read the other parts of Kleos Chronicles. If you're looking for a unique sci-fi book, this one is for you.
