En Route Kasol by Abilash Geetha Balan

Book Review -

En Route Kasol is the second book written by Abilash Geetha Balan. This short thriller story is based in Kasol, near the Kullu district in India.

So many myths are going on in the forest areas, and the author used one to create an intriguing story. A tale where people kill themselves if they go into a restricted forest location.

The trio of Anjana, Ela, and Arjun decide to reveal the secrets of the mysterious 106-acre forest after Ela and Arjun see something there. They seek the help of Anjana because she knows the woods very well and is an environmentalist.

Together they experience paranormal activities and find answers to age-old questions that frighten everyone in the town. Their quest leads to an ugly turn, but their determination is worth all the risks.

The story is compact, so there is a lack of character growth and a scarcity of twists. I enjoyed the research done by Abilash Geetha Balan on various topics that made the story fast-paced and enjoyable, but there were many loose ends.

When the story ends, all I think of was that it has to be a full-fledged novel, including Anjana's father's disappearance, Ela and Arjun's relationship dynamics, Naresh's vile nature, and his interference with the revelations, lots of historical material, and tribal life to make the myth more absorbing. I wanted to read about them in detail.

I hope that the author brings all these characters to life once again because the storyline has loads of potential. But, even if not, then with the current narrative, this book is a decent read.

It's a mixture of horror and mystery written with uncomplicated phrases, making it a good read for beginners. I recommend it.
