The Influencer is the second novel written by Abhaidev. This action tale is based on a secret organization named WIS and how its employees influence the world.
The protagonist Aditya is an influencer, unaware of his powers, leading a life full of ignorance. Until WIS found him and groomed him to become the most vital influencer of all time. Being an orphan, he didn't want his future child to go through all the troubles he had while exploring his powers, and that's when he made a mistake. A blunder that made him and his wife, Shreya, a target.
Aditya is on the run with a pregnant wife and dodging sharpshooters and spies of WIS. No one can be trusted, and with the endless resources of the organization, it's hard to be vigilant and disappear for a long time. That's when Aditya decides to step up and make a life-altering decision. Will he be successful or become another close case at WIS?
The author's previous book, That Thing About You, was a suspense thriller, while this one is an action thriller based on imaginary countries, but with some relatable notions. In addition, a considerable portion of the narrative concentrates on speculation of politics and philosophy. An amalgam that I always admire in a novel.
Although I think that the story could be more intriguing if there were enough suspense and twisting events. There was not enough build-up, and I readily predicted many situations. But the one that I didn't think of came at the end, and I hope if there is a sequel, then Abhaidev will go deep into Aditya's ancestry, and I would love to read more about Kavya and the former agent of WIS that the author hinted.
If you're looking for a fast-paced action read, then this book is for you. However, I recommend it to beginner-level readers.
