Jess Hall's memoir How to Eat an Elephant is about her life, living, and letting go of certain things. She knew she would become a writer at seven, but the journey was full of hardships. She was home-schooled and had a difficult youth, as her mother was abusive.
All Jess wanted was to leave home, and she did the first chance she got with $500 in her pocket. However, with time she realized she was on the path of self-destruction, and to live a happy life, she needed to make changes.
Dealing with childhood trauma, a failed marriage, physical abuse, egocentric companions, and workplace drama, she discovered her inner power and channeled it. This book portrays the journey of a girl who turned herself from frightened to courageous.
Written lucidly, this fast-paced book is a perfect weekend read. However, I am not too fond of the cluttered way of writing, and it would have been great if Jess Hall had written it methodically. But overall, it is a pleasant read, and I recommend it to beginners.
Thank you for the review! I greatly appreciate your insight and feedback on my book.
