Being Loved by Ipsita Pradhan

Book Review -

After publishing a poetry book, author Ipsita Pradhan returned with a collection of three short stories. Being Loved depicts the tale of three girls with the central theme of attachment and longing.

Meera, Jeevika, and Nirvi all have diverse takes on love, but they all yearned for it. Meera, a school-going girl, has felt a connection with the Lord Krishna's devotee Meera and questions how one can love so passionately and whether she can ever do that.

Jeevika, an engineering student and budding social media influencer, wanted to make her name in the world. She is inventive and diligent but putting herself online in front of millions has its drawbacks, and her story portrays that very well. I connected to Jeevika and her fears because I was also the victim of the same thing that happened to her.

Now let's talk about the last story; it is about Nirvi, who moved to a new city for a job, and how she navigates between daily chores and office work. She finds love in a cliche backdrop, but I feel bad for what happened to her.

Ipsita Pradhan told the story of a teenager, a college student, and then a working woman, which concluded all three crucial aspects of female life and the phase where it is highly likely to fall in love or find love, but it is also the time for confusions, betrayals, and heartbreaks, and that is you're going to find in these tales.

The language is lucid, but there were one or two typos that are ignorable. The author ends each chapter with a poem, which I really like, but the story's ending seemed abrupt and could have been better. Overall, this fast-paced book is a perfect weekend read, or if you're in a reading slump, it will help you get out of that too. I recommend it.
