Fixed Moon by Katie Groom is the first book in the series. This supernatural romance novel will take you on a wild adventure through the world of wolves, mermaids, witches, vampires, etc.
The story follows Zoie, a college student who has recently ended her engagement and is starting over in a new city. She is content with living a solitary life until she meets Hugh, a werewolf and literature professor who is equally wary of letting people into his life.
Despite their initial reluctance to get involved with one another, the attraction between Zoie and Hugh is undeniable, and sparks fly when they meet. However, their relationship is complicated because Hugh is a supernatural being, and their love is forbidden by ancient laws.
As the story progresses, Zoie and Hugh must fight dangerous enemies and navigate through the forbidden territory to be together. Along the way, they are joined by their closest friends, Cayden, a werewolf, and Stevie, a mermaid, who are willing to risk their lives to help them.
This is my first time reading a book about these mythical characters. I appreciate Katie Groom's efforts in building a supernatural world with its own set of rules and regulations. However, the characters lack depth and compassion, and I wish she works on that in her next book.
Overall, it is a fast-paced and intriguing paranormal romance novel that is a must-read for fans of the genre who enjoys stories filled with adventure, romance, and a touch of danger. I recommend it to young adult readers.
