The Mystery of Missing Geometry Boxes is the second book in the AKA Detective Club Mystery series by Vidya V. Following the excitement of solving The Mystery of the Graveyard Gold, our young detectives - Karthik, Aarav, and Asha - are back with another intriguing case.
This time, the mystery centres around their school, where numerous geometry boxes have mysteriously disappeared, leaving everyone puzzled. Eager for a new challenge and to prove themselves, the trio decides to take on the case. Their investigation quickly reveals that the issue is larger than they anticipated, with geometry boxes also missing from two other nearby schools.
As they dig deeper, gathering clues and motives, they uncover that the culprit might be someone within their own school. But the bigger question remains: Why? Why are these geometry boxes so important, and what could drive someone to steal them? To uncover the answers, you will have to dive into the book.
As for the characters, I particularly sympathized with Karthik - though others may see him as fortunate, only he knows what he longs for and misses in his home life. Aarav and Asha, the sibling duo, remain consistent with their personalities from the first book. I especially enjoyed Asha's quick wit and charm; she is sharp as a whip yet endearing when she wants to be.
By the way, did I mention the illustrations? They are awesome - legit awesome! The artwork truly brings the story to life, making it feel as if I was watching the scenes unfold right before my eyes. That is yet another reason to pick up this book, isn't it?
Young readers can glean many valuable lessons from this story, as can adults, especially around themes of second chances - though I personally feel not everyone necessarily deserves one. Nonetheless, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and finished it in one sitting.
If you are looking for a quality mystery series for young readers, this one is a solid choice. I highly recommend it.
