Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin

Book Review -

Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin is a contemporary romance novel that explores the intertwined lives of Sadie Green and Sam Mazer, who first meet in a hospital as children. Their shared love for video games becomes a constant thread in their ever-evolving relationship.

The narrative spans their journey as kids, teenagers, college students, colleagues, and almost lovers. While they care deeply for each other, their love manifests in unique and sometimes unconventional ways.

Sam, living with a disability, and Sadie, who battles depression and anxiety, come together to create video games, a testament to their shared passion. Supporting characters like Marx and Dov add depth and play pivotal roles in shaping their lives.

This is not a typical love story. It delves into themes of selfishness, ambition, and darker emotions while also celebrating moments of care, selflessness, and sacrifices. The complexity of the characters and their relationships defies simple categorization, making this book as thought-provoking as it is unique.

However, this book is not for everyone. Sensitive themes such as suicide, depression, violence, bondage, and disability may be triggering for some readers.

While I enjoyed the book overall, the last two chapters left me wanting more for Sam and Sadie. Perhaps that is Gabrielle Zevin's way of grounding the story in reality, but personally, I wished for a more fulfilling resolution. Marx, a straightforward and endearing character, also deserved better in the narrative.

If you're looking for a feel-good escape from reality, this might not be the right choice. But if you're open to a raw and realistic portrayal of life, this book is worth reading—it won't disappoint.
